Cater to it too much, and you become an obsessive completist stuck in the past and unable to appreciate any new approaches or nuances to familiar subject matter. Disregard it too much and you risk alienating and offending people who loved the subject matter in the first place.

This amazing short film isn't really hilarious, but would be a great animated short to play before Duncan Jones' Moon - sci-fi movies that meditate on the distance between people and how we define identity.
This short French film, entitled Skhizein, was brought to my attention by the fine folks at /Film. It's a story about what happens when a man is struck by a meteorite and all the complications that come from that.
